Soccer Cup
A soccer cup is an association football tournament which
leads up to a team being awarded a cup-shaped trophy. These competitions
exist on both domestic and international levels. The most well-known
of these is the FIFA World Cup.
Since 1930, the awarding of this soccer cup has been set to occur every
four years. The only missed years were 1942 and 1946 due to World War
II. In between each final tournament exists a qualification phase. The
World Cup Finals is the most widely-viewed sporting event in the world.
There have been two trophies for the World soccer cup. The first is
the Jules Rimmet Trophy, awarded from 1930 to 1970. In 1970, Brazil
was able to win it permanently after becoming three-time champions (though
it was stolen in 1983.) From 1974 through the present, the FIFA World
Cup Trophy has been used.
