Soccer Gear

Soccer gear includes such things as jerseys, shorts, shin guards, socks, cleats, and goalkeeper items. Selecting the appropriate equipment and apparel can enhance a player’s performance abilities. More importantly, the right supplies can prevent injuries which could debilitate game play as well as everyday errands and activities.

Here are some tips to aid in choosing and maintaining soccer gear:

• Stitched panels on soccer balls are more expensive than glued ones. However, this stitching allows for a softer, longer lasting ball.

• Shoes should be tried on with soccer socks for a snug fit that is neither too tight nor too loose.

• The position a person is playing will affect what his or her most appropriate shin guard should be. For instance, defensemen should have heavier and more protective ones while forwards are better off with lighter ones which emphasize ankle protection.

• While cleats work fantastic for outdoor play, it is wise to also purchase flat bottomed shoes for indoor practice.

• As with all sports equipment, taking good care of soccer gear is just as important as purchasing the right kinds. Keep items clean and avoid unnecessary wear and tear for longer gear life spans.

• Synthetic shoes are cheaper than leather ones and easier to maintain. However, leather is often considered to be longer lasting and to have superior feel and fit. Serious players may prefer leather for this reason.
