Soccer Jerseys
Soccer jerseys are designed to distinguish between teams
for viewers as well as players. Most teams usually have an alternate
set of colors, in the event that the colors of two opponent teams are
too hard to differentiate. A third uniform or “kit” set
is not uncommon among professional clubs.
Originally, soccer jerseys would simply depict the number of a player
in relation to the position that was being played. This meant that all
teams had player numbers 1 through 11. This was given up for squad numbering,
where team members are given (or allowed to choose) a special number
to last the season.
Soccer jerseys also provide information such as a player’s last
name or nickname. Logos for sponsors also show up on kits. These logos
will generally have to fit size regulations as designated by specific
tournaments or competitions.
