Soccer Teams
Soccer teams consist of a maximum of eleven players. This
is with an exclusion of substitutes and an inclusion of the goalkeeper.
Different competitions will often require a different amount of players
as a minimum, usually seven.
For official competitions, FIFA allows soccer teams a maximum of three
substitutes. This holds true for any competition sponsored by its confederations
or member organizations. The six confederations are Asia, Africa, North
America, South America, Europe, and Oceania.
Though the goalkeepers of soccer teams hold the most specialized position
in the game, any other member can take their places if necessary. This
may occur if the goalie is injured or sent off. The change must take
place during stoppage of the match and the referee must be made aware
prior.
